If there is one wish I could achieve and get fulfilled is to have a year of normal days. I am soaked with Covid 19 and numbers, relentless day after day. I have earplugs and wear dark glasses but last year it permeated so relentless. It would not stop. I escaped daily, took walks around the lake seeking counsel from ducks and waterhens, listening to weeping trees. They told me to go home, repose and give love a chance, allow yourself to become revigorated.
Seek Lockdowns and do Self Isolate was Government’s endless refrain! But, now with the ‘new year’ and endless glimmering vials of vaccine as shown on TV on their forward journeys and world-wide dispatched, so hopefully relief might be in sight. Can we hear now about a world of friends, kinships and a suspicion-less normal handshake with China?
Will the US allow itself to become a more modest place with a fresh Government under a normal leader? Not seeking out places to bomb or kill black people! One lives with hope! Will normalcy also return to Australia? Can we finally release the hundreds of refugees still in detention on Manus island and Nauru? What have they done to be kept in indefinite detention year in year out? Can we go forward and stop committing crimes against humanity and stop pointing the finger at others?
The rain has stopped and I will now quickly go with Milo to the lake and seek the ducks. I know they will be waiting.

Normal would be nice. I wonder when?

Yes, Peggy.
I had ‘normal’ this morning, hopefully it will endure for the rest of the day. I will try and gingerly go to my local Stumps café for a latte and with luck will be free from Covid 19 news or new numbers!

Today the Covid 19 news were overtaken by the chaos that went on in Washington, DC. How will it end?

Normalcy with a touch of genuine humanity are always to be wished for, Gerard! Maybe things will return to something resembling it, but don’t hold your breath. One thing is for sure, Trump is going to go out screaming, like a two year old throwing a temper tantrum. But he is going to go out! –Curt

Right now Trump is turning the screws on Pence to throw out the election results. Perhaps Trump is really battling with his lack of his own e*ection instead!

Laughing, Melania claims it isn’t a problem, but who knows. I think that ‘getting it up’ to Trump, means screwing the American public. –Curt

Normal?!?! Oh! I remember normal! 😉
Yes, ’twill be wonderful when normal is back…wonder if it has been on vacation?
I love feeding ducks and watching ducks!
Nature has brought us such joy and peace, always…but it’s been especially wonderful this past year. To be in nature, to watch nature, to commune with nature…we learn so much from it…we gain so much from it! 🙂
HUGS!!! 🙂
PATS and RUBS to Milo!!! 🙂
PS…I musta’ been thinking along the same lines as you…great minds think alike! 😉 …I posted about the rabbit who has been bringing me such joy recently! 🙂

Yes, that is right, Carolyn. Nature is the answer. We should all find a lake somewhere and walk around it, preferably with a small dog. If not a dog perhaps another human being.
Make sure that headphones are left behind, including smart watches. Some watches now receive messages and news update. What next? Give the time?
Yes, my garden could well be hiding a rabbit now. It is very dense. First a frog, then a rabbit, who knows?

Right on, Gerard! A lake, a dog, friends, a walk in nature…all to take precedence over tech devices with their noises, songs, alarms, pings, and pongs! 🙂
HUGS!!! 🙂

My instincts tell me, what we go through now, is fairly normal! There have been always wars and still are. That’s normal, isn’t it? And pandemics are normal too, are they not?
The question is, when are we going to have our ‘good’ life back? I think, it will never be the same again. It is going to be different. Are we going to have a more peaceful life again? Maybe. Maybe we have it now, if we are just satisfied with watching the ducks! 🙂

The more I think about it the more I think that a type of hermit’s life is not the answer. In fact, hasn’t this dreaded Covid achieved this by isolation and estrangement from each other?
It’s so complicated. That’s why ducks, lakes and trees give us the answer. the good life is here who seek. Yes, I am more than happy to watch ducks and learn from them, Uta.

I have no way to explain this, but the title of your post — especially the phrase ‘normal days’ — brought to mind a classic song that you may or may not know. It’s called “Wasted Days and Wasted Nights” — and haven’t we all had enough of those? The recording I found’s from Fender’s concert in Rotterdam in 1979; that surprised me, but his appeal seems to have been world-wide.

Freddy Fender – 30 Exitos Inmortales (Disco Completo)
I went through a lot of Freddy Fender YouTube videos during the last hour or so. Very enjoyable! 🙂

I really enjoyed this music, Linda, even though his name did not ring a bell. That’s nothing, though. Lots of things are loosing their bells now.
Oddly enough the music of Freddy Fender also reminds me of Freddy Mercury.
