Another few days and the postal vote on SSM will close. While everyone is entitled to vote how they see fit, the reasons for a NO vote is getting more difficult to sustain. It simply lacks logic. By law, equality for both hetero and same sex couples has already been established. In a divorce or splitting up, laws about property and custody of children is equally applied to same sex couples as to hetero couples.
Children are already being brought up by same sex couples and have been for decades the same as children from hetero couples. About 10% of people are gay or lesbian. No law or marriage will change that. The law to allow marriage between lesbians or gays is not making marriage mandatory. The only change will be that SS couples are given the same equal rights as the hetero couples to get married.
The shrillness of the ‘NO’ vote proponents is not being helped when they start saying that children can only be given love by two parents of opposite sex. Studies around the world have shown that that is not the case. Love is what children need.
Here is a video that has to be seen to be believed. It shows children brought up by loving people of same sex.

Just google “homosexual animal” & you will get a lot of results – approximately 1,500 species already documented with homo- and bisexual behaviour.

Yes, our own ‘Milo’, the incorrigible Jack Russell will get a twinge about anything a bit fluffy and warm. And…he has been castrated!

That is the most enchanting video. How anyone could vote no is beyond comprehension.

Yes, it beats me how some people oppose this. I suppose, different strokes etc.

Sweet kinds with lots of insight about a problem that should not require a vote. Gay couples have been since the beginning of man and folks are born that way- it is not a life choice. Kids raised in same sex families are very normal and so, yes, if I lived in Australia.

The Government should have legislated for this years ago. It is now turning into a kind of war with hatreds and abuse being fomented. We did not get a postal vote on bombing the shits out of Syria or locking up refugees on Islands. Yes, with ‘love’ being involved it has turned into almost a war.

I hope the young will cast their vote. They are all for SSM but a big problem is that they have lost the art of ticking a form ‘Yes’ with a pen and then posting it in a letter box.
They are doing everything on the internet and click on apps.

What cracks me up about this whole issue is that so many gay people come from two loving straight parents and they want a shot at living/loving/legal relationships. Sometimes I wonder why anyone wants to get married but that’s beside the point here. Good luck!

Oh Patti, but some will never change no matter how much logic and facts are presented. Still, many people did change their minds and have becomes accepting of marriage equality for all. Listening to some, one would think the world is going to collapse when a few SS marriages are conducted.

Why should marriage even be seen as an issue to vote on?
