We decided to splash out a bit and got this place with a bed so large it needed a GPS and I felt like asking Helvi ; your place or mine? The bath was also so big and tempting. It is clearly meant for endless honey mooners. A video with directions showed what this bath was capable of fulfilling. The females head would be languidly leaning over the edge of the bath in expectation of.. Something delightful but in any case at leat a champagne. The man would be stroking her hair but at the right moment would step out while carrying her to sowhere else making sure the rose petals covering ( not an Abbott in sight) all the conjugal instrumentalia or orchesteral. Equipment. This tablet has a mind of its own, sorry. Of course the heart shaped frangipani on the giant bed would get a bit of a shake-up. Bali seems to be all about beauty though. Not a plastic flower or pot in sight. The contrast could not be bigger. A great place if one can see above the motor bikes and past the tourists of which we too are part off. (But not an Abbott in sight). Indonesia is teaching Australia a lesson in humanity. We feel like. Staying forever. Again, this tablet has a trouble with being obedient, but… Not an Abbott in sight! Abbott is Australia’s prime minister who seems to delight in making this country look stupid.

We had a massive bath at our house in Bali, but never enough hot water to fill it! I’ve saved ALL of your posts to read when I’ve got more time – don’t want to miss a trick. Enjoy your holiday, it already sounds like you are having A LOT of fun 😉

Yes, baths are getting bigger, even here where most locals still bath in the local Kali or river. Sukarno used to hire a helicopter and fly over all in the hope of seeing bathing beauties. (Over Bali)

Well said, Rod!
I’m sorry you’re not enjoying Bali, Gerard and Helvi.

We have walked to all the places we spent time in previously. We take breaks in sipping iced tea with lime slice or a papaya – dragon fruit juice. We are on the edge of a rushingmountain river at which a slotaryman is carving wooden turtles.

Do they grow dragon fruit up north, Yvonne?

They sure do. A local ice-cream maker does a Dragon fruit flavour, pretty darn good!

It’s so lovely to read these snippets, misbehaving tablet and all, from a place I am unlikely ever to visit. Thank you for sharing – I have mental images … 😉

Thank you Julia. Bali is magic still. A happy place were no one ever leaves and the departed souls always return. The tablet is starting to behave too but I am struggling with finding the button for a space.

Sounds like a beautiful place. And who doesn’t love a giant bed? Well, maybe the housekeeping staff who have to make them…

The bed is for a ‘Raja’ and must take 4 to make it. New moon so time for festivities and dancing. There is no time for no festivities here, it seems.

Bali surely is sort of like a modern Eden if I can stretch the imagination. Sounds luxurious with the huge bed that one could get lost in as well as the over-sized bath. The only thing about all those luxuries is that you have not once forgotten Abbott. Now, Gerard, you still need to relax a bit more or not? 🙂

So glad your having a great holiday Gerard. Will you pass through Darwin? Would be nice to meet you and Helvi. Could pick you up at airport if you have a stopover for few hrs. But likely you fly direct home let me know.

Thank you for your kind offer but we fly direct to Sydney and arrive in cold weather. Darwin would be lovely next time, may be?

Yes, Abbott is toxic but with all herbal medicine available here in Ubud (Bali) it will soon pass. Obat is medicine and the place called Ubud is derived from that. I mean herbal medicines.

Please forget Abbott. He is not worth thinking about. But I’m worried that you are looking for him everywhere. The way he behaves the Indonesians will soon declare him “persona non grata”.

No, but it takes time Berlioz. It could be a bit like the Stockholm’s syndrome! Australia might take time to recover from Abbott if he ever disappears. Perhaps a wild dance and making offerings to appease the Gods might help.

Bali is indeed a lovely place, Gerard. Enjoy. When I was there, ever so long ago, we stayed in Ubud. People brought water to our house each day and poured it in from outside to our bath. As I recall, it was cold. But what a magical place and time. –Curt

We started going here a long time ago and a lot has changed. But the essence of the place is still here, especially away from the beaches and bars. Abbott is a different issue, a mental crowbar helps .😈

Yes, I should stay off the tablet and keep hands above the blankets as my mum used to advice me. We are just so happy to be here, having a great time talking to many locals and laughing. Can you believe it?

I always take vacation from everything including phone, computer, emails and everything that dictates my ordinary life. I am very glad you both are having a good time and give your wife a hug, since your hands are above the blankets.

We have not used the phone or taken emails but can’ t seem to stay away from writing those snippets. A bit like keeping away from a biscuit after the cookie jar has been opened.
We are both fiddling with our tablets because we got them and it would be silly not to use them. However we do not carry them on our walks nor are we taking any photos, especially not on the end of a stick that many tourists seem to like doing.
I could not understand that latest fashion of taking photos with the camera at the end of anadjustable pole.
Yes I will give a hug now.
