Today the bullet was fired through the church. I bought a scanner. The day held the promise of rain. In an act of contraindication I went to sunny up myself, went to the Good Guys electronics.
Here are the results after hours of just plodding along coping with inserting a disc and downloading the software. I tried about ten times and when I could not find a single beam to hold my weight, π I had a quiet cup-o-tea and overcame. Most modern appliances are now wire-free. They apparently connect without cables. The manual and instructions for the scanner-printer can only be read after downloading the ‘software’. (disc)
I almost took the printer back when I had, all of a sudden, an Eureka moment. Even though the printer-scanner was plugged in and I had inserted the cartridges and diligently followed all the numbered visual instructions, including the arrows throwing plastic bags into a bin and the light was blinking, but it also kept on saying the ‘scanner was not plugged in’. I was at my wits end. When EUREKA . I don’t have wire-free connection and I needed a USB cable. ( not provided)
So here the results of scanning AND storing the pitures.
The first piture is the old one taken of the photo by my camera. The next the same but SCANNED. The following photos also scanned. The scanner is gleaming white and makes a kind of nice purring sound. I am so excited.

Yes, this morning I am just sitting in front of the scanner, not doing anything, just basking in the glory of it all.

Yes, indeed. I have now taken to bundling the baffling numbers of the cords and cables which takes two people to do. Helvi on top of the table and me underneath. We have each our own equipment but sharing the large table.

I was lucky that Peter was able to connect my scanner. I love using it. Peter has his desk in the living-room, I have mine in our spare room. Often we communicate by sending each other e-mails!

We sit next to each other which is rather cosy. Sometimes we help each other out with spelling or ideas and…. sometimes we fight a little as well.

We have the same “Cheap” Canon printer / scanner. Apparently he communicate with my camera too, but I haven’t looked into this aspect. Good luck with it. You can san more than one photo at a time. It sorts them out, but leave a little gap between the pictures.

And I am very excited for you. Gerard, you do know that you are now leaps and bounds ahead of me in all things technological and possibly more. Fantastic! I’m so glad you got the damn thing to work for you. Lottie needs to pull her finger out and stop being such a luddite π My technical advisor returns tomorrow – thank goodness, as i’d be lost without him.

Scanning is ace compared to other ways of reproducing old photos. Our scanner groans and creaks, but I daren’t change it for fear of losing it altogether.
