How wonderful! I’ve never seen anything like it either. They play so sweetly together despite their differences, humans could learn a thing or two from watching this!

Yes, playing sweetly. We had a baby magpie fallen out of its nest a couple of years ago and Milo used to walk around it not wanting to stress the little fledgling. He knew that we wanted to care for it. Sadly the parents stopped feeding it and it died after a few days..

The dog is a puppy and shows amazing bonding with the magpie. I think both the magpie and jack Russell puppy have grown together.

I’ve always thought maggies are super-smart. They’re different to other birds because they spend a lot of time on the ground walking around like humans. And when I walk past a maggie he will look me in the eye and engage.

On the other hand magpies can attack dogs and humans as well. Last year our local council had put up notices on telegraph poles warning walkers and bike riders to watch for magpie attacks during nesting. I remember seeing people wearing funny hats with angry faces painted on them directed skywards.

Clicking the email got me a blank page too, but I then clicked the blogpost title and got the video. I agree, Gerard. They must have raised the magpie from fledglinghood. That said, it is still pretty cool, I hope they keep the puppy well fed as a precaution.

Hilarious, especially with what sounds like a cat mewing in the background. We are having a running battle with magpies here, but it was fun to see one playing so enthusiastically.

This is one of the best all time animal and or bird videos that I’ve ever seen. It’s one that is mind boggling but the bird knows the dog very well and that the JR will not harm him in any way. Wonderful..
